God Is A DJ, an electrifying new musical written by Olivier Award winner Gary Owen, is to make its World Premiere in the UK in 2026.
The brand-new musical fuses dance music, clubbing and theatre, delivering a unique theatrical experience.
God Is A DJ tells the story of love against the odds, life in the spotlight, struggles and personal demons, all tied together by the transformative power of music.
The production, which will be helmed by acclaimed director Vicky Featherstone, brings together the pulse of Electronic Dance Music (known colloquially as EDM) and a sweeping score.
A DJ will perform iconic EDM anthems alongside a live band, with dynamic, new arrangements by multi-award-winning Musical Director Matthew Brind.
Inspired by EDM's journey from underground clubs to the world's biggest venues – where DJs have ascended to become the rock stars of today - God Is A DJ captures the movement, passion and cultural impact of dance music and club culture like never before.
God Is A DJ is conceived by producer and veteran music industry executive Irit Ten Hengel, who has developed this project over the past two years and brought together some of the foremost creative minds in the theatre industry. After developing the musical Obsessed, based on the life and hit songs of legendary songwriter Diane Warren, Irit is now bringing the innovative new project God Is a DJ to the UK.

She developed Obsessed on Broadway and has worked with Grammy-winning producers and globally renowned artists, bringing unique and groundbreaking projects to life. Her passion for innovation and storytelling continues to push creative boundaries.
Vicky Featherstone
Director
One of the most fearless and visionary directors in theatre, former Director of the Royal Court, and a driving force behind some of the most groundbreaking productions in the West End and beyond. Her work challenges, inspires, and redefines the stage, exactly what GOD IS A DJ is all about.
